Your case heard: 10:50am
Judge: Louis Trosch
Entered: 10:01
Defendant: Gehovani Montes
Asst DA: Bill Bunting
Defense Attorney: Jacob Setzer
Public Defender? Yes
Charges: Possession of firearm by felon X2, possessing stolen firearm, possession of drug paraphernalia, Possession of marijuana, possession of cocaine, assault with a deadly weapon X2, possession of firearm by felon
Current Bond: $38,000 secured
New Bond Ruling: Bond remains the same
Notes: There were 6 CMCW members in court; 3 from Eastway, 1 from South & 2 from Providence.
9:35am ADA Bunting approached us and asked who we were there for. We told him we were just observing.
10:01am Judge Trosch enters; apologizes for being late and states he had an emergency hearing in juvenile court that took longer than expected.
10:50am ADA Bunting recites an extremely long listed of charges against Mr. Montes. It seemed to me there were more charges than even we were aware of.
Immediately after all the charges were read, and it is time for defense attorney Mr. Setzer to speak on behalf of his client, Judge Trosch asks him, “Is there a reason we’re having this bond hearing today?” He went on to say that he felt the bond should be higher. He stated he didn’t like three things, people who have records, people who are violent and people who commit offenses while there are pending charges.
Defense attorney Mr. Setzer stated there would be no action taken today.
Based upon the comments from the judge, I feel Mr. Setzer didn’t want to risk getting a higher bond for his client.
There were 4 people standing at the front of the courtroom, who were probably waiting to say something on Mr. Montes account. They were not asked to address the court.
There were no victims present.
